Kihonge M Kagiri
Fellow Alumni, It is with deep honor and gratitude that I step into the role of Chairperson of the Dedan Kimathi University Alumni Association (DEKUTAA). Together, we are part of a vibrant and accomplished community whose collective strength lies in our shared history, values, and vision for the future. My commitment is to make DEKUTAA a thriving hub of belonging, connection, and growth—not only in our professional journeys, but also in expanding networks, creating opportunities, and giving back to the institution that shaped us. To achieve this, I look forward to working with each of you to realize the Five Pillars of My Leadership Agenda: 1. Revitalizing the Alumni Network * Building a dynamic online platform to connect alumni across the globe. * Hosting regular networking events—both physical and virtual—for mentorship, career growth, and business collaboration. * Launching an alumni business and skills directory to showcase our collective potential. 2. Alumni Benefits Program * Establishing exclusive benefits such as training opportunities, professional development courses, and alumni discounts. * Revamping the alumni welfare fund to support members in times of need. * Introducing a loyalty card for access to partner business offers. 3. Student and Alumni Empowerment Projects * Partnering with the university and private sector to develop a modern student center, partly funded by alumni contributions. * Creating structured mentorship and internship programs for students and recent graduates. * Organizing workshops and seminars led by accomplished alumni across industries. 4. Sustainability and Institutional Support * Leading fundraising campaigns for infrastructure projects, scholarships, and research initiatives that will secure the university’s growth for generations to come. 5. Celebrating Alumni Achievements * Establishing an annual alumni awards ceremony to honor outstanding contributions. * Launching an alumni magazine/newsletter to share stories, updates, and opportunities. * Creating a “Wall of Fame” on campus to inspire future generations. This is not just my agenda—it is our shared vision. Every alumnus is a vital part of this journey. Together, we can make DEKUTAA a model of excellence, influence, and impact. Let us embrace this new chapter with unity, pride, and purpose. Our future is as strong as our collective will to shape it.
Joshua Mutahi
Before his current role, Joshua served as an Auditor in an audit firm, where he gained valuable experience in audit procedures and financial scrutiny, thereby enhancing his proficiency in the field. Additionally, Joshua worked as a Researcher at Dedan Kimathi University of Technology in the Department of School of Business. During this period, Joshua collaborated on several publications with fellow researchers, focusing on the field of Finance. Notably, he co-authored "Liquidity Management and Financial Sustainability of Deposit Taking SACCOs in Mount Kenya Region" in The Strategic Journal of Business & Change Management, 7(2), 270 – 284. Joshua has also been part of the team at the Kenya-based Agri-tech startup, Apollo Agriculture. Furthermore, he has worked as a Financial Analyst (Accounting) in the Banking Sector. Joshua's commitment extends beyond his professional endeavors, evident in his voluntary memberships with the Kenya Red Cross and Rotary International.
Dancan Mumo
Fellow Alumni, as Secretary General of the DeKUT Alumni Association, I believe that true leadership is founded on service, integrity, and shared vision. Leadership is not merely about holding a position, it is about taking responsibility, inspiring others, and creating systems that empower people to contribute meaningfully. My journey at Dedan Kimathi University of Technology taught me the value of teamwork, accountability, and innovation. These principles continue to guide my commitment to fostering collaboration among alumni, strengthening our institutional legacy, and advancing opportunities for mentorship, networking, and professional growth. Together as DeKUT alumni, we have the collective strength to make a lasting impact, supporting one another, nurturing the next generation, and driving progress in our communities and beyond. DAVID NYAGA
Fellow Alumni, as Organizing Secretary of DEKUTAA, I am honored to lead this vibrant community of accomplished professionals. Beyond the workplace, David is recognized for his leadership both on campus and in the community. During his time at Dedan Kimathi University, he held key leadership positions in student-led associations, where he coordinated academic and welfare initiatives, mentored fellow students, and promoted financial literacy among peers. He has also been actively involved in community-based programs, organizing youth empowerment forums and participating in financial education outreach projects. David continues to expand his expertise through professional training in computer applications, SAP systems, and financial advisory programs. He is passionate about contributing to organizational success through accurate financial practices, strategic insights, and impactful leadership.

Our History
The Dedan Kimathi University of Technology Alumni Association (DeKUTAA) was established in 2013, just a few years after our institution began producing its first graduates. What started as a small group of passionate alumni has grown into a thriving community of over 5,000 members worldwide.
Over the past 13+ years, DeKUTAA has evolved from informal gatherings to a professionally organized association that provides meaningful value to its members through networking events, career development programs, mentorship opportunities, and continued engagement with our alma mater.
Today, our alumni serve in leadership positions across various industries, from technology and engineering to business and public service, making significant contributions to society while maintaining strong ties to the DeKUT community that shaped their success.
